Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) offer stable weather and moderate temperatures. High summer is climbable but hot and hazy; winter turns it into a genuine snow climb.
Toubkal packs a real 4,000 m summit into a weekend. From Imlil, a day's walk up the Mizane valley reaches the refuges at 3,200 m; summit morning climbs scree and (in spring) snow slopes to a panorama across the Atlas to the Sahara. It's an ideal first taste of altitude, and in winter a genuine introduction to crampon work.
